Filomena
The Filomena is a former rectory nestled in the foothills of the Berkshire mountains in Western Massachusetts. The project was a full gut renovation that involved a new roof, electrical, heating and plumbing, and while systems were being put in place we worked with the building’s sectioned off rooms to create individual environments that serve as parts of a larger whole.
Drawing upon the home’s Italianate architecture, we infused the historic bones with colors and details informed by the Italian modernists of the mid-20th century. We took down a load-bearing wall to create a new kitchen location that now serves as the heart of the home, and are currently in the process of creating the gardens, slowly returning this grande dame to her former glory.
